WANNA BET

WANNA BET, a weekly, one-hour primetime event in which celebrities wagered on stunt-performing contestants, premiered on ABC June 21/08 (they were casting this beast for almost a year). The producer sought “ordinary people with extraordinary skills.” Examples of stunts we saw during season 1 included skiing over 2000 fresh eggs without breaking them, solving a Rubik's Cube in under 20 seconds while blindfolded and submerged under water, memorizing 32 audience members' first and last names in under 60 seconds, and a 20-piece marching band piling into a small van while playing When the Saints Go Marching In.

While the answering machine still picks up when you call the contestant hotline (818-759-8126), the show is not casting at this time. All original episodes have aired. WANNA BET did not do well in the ratings and, while it has not been officially cancelled just yet, VPTV doesn't expect a second season. VPTV will update this post when we learn something definite, one way or the other.
